Review

Love at first smell?

Sparrow grabs your attention first thing with an unknown friction between the main characters right away that upsets Christa’s brother immediately. There is a lot of things going on with the plot also that almost makes it too much, however, it ties together well and the novel flows. An example of this is Jordan putting Christa’s brother in charge of the pack as he goes to help another pack with a problem they are having. I enjoyed her spin on Lycan reproduction also, it gave definite excitement to the story.

Why only 4 ½ you might ask? While I liked most everything, a couple things bothered me. It seemed a little wild that an alpha female werewolf would have numerous allergies as that would make her a weakness on patrols and such. Another thing that seem a little contrived was that Christa’s family were all perfectly fine with the whole Lycan existence. That is just my opinion, other than those couple of things it is a great read. I definitely recommend it.

If you love shifters, paranormal, romance, and Lycans this is your book.

Rocky Mountain Miracle by Christine Feehan

Review

Feehan does it again! She conquers romance where paranormal is not the feature and still keeps it one of my top Christmas novels.

Feehan fans will not be disappointed unless you only want the paranormal featured with your romance. The plot is still lovely forked here and there with wickedness that I know I have come to love through her other series and novels. The characters are full of depth and you will want to help Cole and Jase learn to trust if possible. There are some hot love scenes as is typical of Feehan which would put it into an adult category, but not on every other page, so parents you can be the judge.

This novel is packed full of great mystery and suspense along with the angst of romance. I did not put this book down until I finished it (even read while eating, and did not sleep until the last page read). Great thing it was a fast read. Everything flowed smoothly, Feehan kept the mystery and suspense until you almost could not take anymore and then she revealed another piece of the puzzle. All the time she was building the relationships, but still making it impossible to decide if there would be a happy ending. As you know I give no spoilers, and can be just as happy sometimes when love is lost in a great romance, so you have to read the book.

This book deserves a 5 for all of the above reasons and more. If you have never read any of her other books and like this one, I seriously suggest you pick up the beginning to one of her series.

So, if you do not mind a little adult, a lot of mystery and suspense, a romance with much uncertainty all the way to the end of the novel, and a little paranormal, this offering has your name stamped all over it, do not let this pass you by during the holiday season.

Forbidden Fruit: A Nell Forrest Mystery 3 by Ilsa Evans

Review

Who finds a human skeletal remains while trying to plant an apple tree? You guessed it; Nell Forrest!

This is the third offering in the Nell Forrest Mystery Series, however, it read perfectly as a standalone, as I have never read the first two. If necessary I would have read the other two to put things into context, but it was not needed. I absolutely loved this humorous and witty plot that skillfully threw everything but the kitchen sink into the story-line on the way to the mysterious end. Evans had me eating out of her hands throughout the entire tale. If I could I would have given this novel a rating higher than 5.

I could not wait to get to each chapter as there was some new letter from a fan of her column that ran the gambit from quirky to downright rude, nevertheless always funny as an added bonus that started each beginning page. The members of her family are so lovable even in all their nuttiness that just makes them all the more endearing. Petra and Nell handled most of the situations as I would want to myself. I highly recommend this book especially with is ending being so unexpected. Do not miss this great, fun, and entertaining read!

I am doing something that I rarely do and providing the links to first two novels. I know that I am going to be reading them. I am also waiting to see what Nell is going to be up to next. I hope there is a book 4, if I get a vote, then my vote is yes, yes, yes!

So, if you do not mind a little adult, a lot of wit and humor, a little romance and a whole lot of great mystery and thriller this novel is going to blow your mind and take you on a happy ride!

Will hot rock star sex turn into something more for Izzy and Logan, or does his past ruin everything?

This is a great start to a new Adult series and makes me hope that the other two will also receive 5 star ratings. There are hot sexual scenes, but not excessively so in the novel. I love that this novel is not the same old plot of rock star meets girl then some angst before they fall in love. This plot has some great unexpected treats to throw your way. The book kept my interest from the very beginning and I loved the characters in the book.

As it is the first of a trilogy, there is a huge cliffhanger. I have to admit that I am already anxiously awaiting book two to find out some of the answers that Elliott has unanswered for us on purpose. It even has some great suspense interwoven with the romance. So, if you like mystery, thrillers, hot and steamy sex, and rock and roll romance you are definitely going to be quite happy with this novel.

Review

Is 5 days enough time to say goodbye to the ones you love?

This novel had me so caught up in it from the first words that I forgot it was fiction. I cried probably a quarter of the way through the book. I would have to say that it was worth the emotional rollercoaster and the at times desperately sad parts for the story in its entirety. The plot was so unique to take Mara and Scott down two drastically different roads yet intertwined so smoothly. Both story lines came down to the wire and Ms. Timmer held her cards quite closely about the final results for Mara and Scott.

Timmer definitely deserves a 5+ for this riveting work that at times shows such love and such heartbreak that it does feel like a true story as you are reading it. For me, when a fiction work reads as nonfiction there is nothing better an author can achieve in fiction. If this is her first offering, I am anxiously awaiting novel number two. So, if you can take some serious love, serious heartache, are willing to face the possibility of crying, and willing to see what people may do for those they love, then this may be one of the best reads you will ever experience.

Review

After twelve years of being Patrick’s widow, Kate is ready to move on or is she?

Harmel packs quite a punch from the beginning of this, at times, heart wrenching novel (my way of saying you may cry in parts). It seemed to be over quickly as the plot was filled with so much action and indecision for Kate. Once she starts to make her decisions they come quick and fast. The romance is fraught with suspense and it takes a while to know which way to root, or root at all.

Harmel's wild emotional ride is definitely worth the ride. Even though I gave this book a 4 ½ on my blog I am adding it to the calendar to my book club. I recommend this book highly and only dock ½ star as I think that Kate is a little too weak in the beginning of the novel. So, if you do not mind a little paranormal with some harsh reality both with personal loss and the Foster Care System of New York City spiced with dicey and the best romance ever, this is your book.

Review

How well can you really ever know another person, even a mother regarding her own daughter?

I would rate The Perfect Mother higher than 5 if that were available as a score. I literally did not sleep until I finished this novel. It is incredible. The plot, while perhaps partially taken from the pages of today’s news, has kinks and curls with a development or two that you just cannot imagine coming.

The beautifully written work shows the strain of the relationships in the family as the investigation goes on in Spain. The difficulties Jennifer faces while trying to help Emma makes her question if she even knew her daughter. This emotional ride Jennifer takes to help prove Emma’s innocence is definitely a musts read. Darnton hits a perfect balance of plot, characters, suspense and readability that allows this fiction to read as if it is non-fiction, which is the best that it gets. Do not miss The Perfect Mother.
